Digital Crocus offer VPS as a standard feature on all of our hosting accounts. Our VPS system is a special kind of managed virtual private server under which you are still a normal user – you do not have root access and you cannot add separate hosting accounts within your VPS. This is the safest and most robust way for us to provide the benefits of a VPS without the potential headaches for our customers that can be associated with operating your own server.
Although you do not have root access within your VPS, you are still able to add an unlimited number of domains, host an unlimited number of unique websites, create multiple e-mail and FTP accounts, and create multiple MySQL databases. This is all achieved via our powerful but easy-to-use home-grown Symposium control panel.
The only limitations of our VPS system are that you cannot add separate hosting accounts and allow them to login to your VPS server or the Symposium control panel, and you cannot modify operating system files yourself. We manage the FreeBSD VPS environment for you and keep the software up-to-date, patched and working reliably. This is how we’re able to offer our advanced managed VPS system for such unbelievably low prices. If you need greater flexibility however, we are able to give you write access to your operating system files.
Our reseller accounts on the other hand offer you all of the benefits of one of our advanced managed VPS accounts, but they also offer you the ability to create more separate accounts on our system. If you’re a web designer you could choose bundle reseller sub-accounts with all of your site designs in order to offer your customers a complete website creation package. You could use a reseller account to give your friends and family free hosting accounts. You could create a website to sell our reseller accounts and start your own web hosting business. The possibilities are endless.
The key feature of our reseller accounts is that you can add your own separate users to our system and give them full access to their own VPS and their own Symposium control panel. You have the ability to manage these accounts; add them, modify them, delete them, change their quotas and settings, switch to them and get access to their control panel – you get full control over these sub-accounts on our system, just like Digital Crocus do with our customer accounts – in fact big sections of our reseller management system are identical to what we ourselves use at Digital Crocus to manage our customers.
You can choose to offer your customers a highly managed service and do everything for them through the Symposium control panel, or you can just give them a username and password and let them login and do everything themselves. You can choose what hosting packages to offer and decide what to call them – you’re not tied into our Bronze, Silver etc. packages. You set your own quotas and prices, you handle the billing and account management; we handle everything else.
